Slovenian Tourist Board in London | World Trade Market | 7-9 November 2011
Slovenian Tourist Board successfully exhibited at the World Travel Market at the Excel Centre in London. The main theme of this year’s presentation were the Julian Alps. The Slovenian Tourist Board received an award for the “Best stand for doing business” due to the application of the innovative use of Qr code mapping technology on promotional material.
Lord Sebastian Coe and Primoz Kozmus | London before London | 25 October 2011
Slovenian Olympic champion Primoz Kozmus and the chairman of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games Lord Sebastian Coe attended the promotional event titled “London before London” hosted by the Slovenian Embassy in London together with the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, the Slovenian Tourist Board and the Slovenian Athletic Federation.
H.E. Mr Iztok Jarc, Ambassador, represented the Republic of Slovenia at the International Conference on Cyberspace
International Conference on Cyberspace was held on 1 and 2 November in London. More than 700 participants (government officials, industry leaders, representatives of the Internet technical community and civil society) from 60 countries took part.
Participants discussed ways how to shape a safe and resilient cyberspace and agreed that it should be shaped by the interests of civil society, industry and governments across the globe. Improved security should not come at the expense of fundamental human rights.

An award-winning UK publisher Pighog Press is launching the publication of two new volumes of contemporary Slovenian poetry in English: 'Elsewhere’ - new and selected poems by contemporary Slovenian poet Iztok Osojnik (translated by Pighog poet Maria Jastrzebska with Ana Jelnikar) and 'Here' - an anthology of Slovenian poetry in translation, edited by Radharani Pernarcic. Lidija Dimkovska | Resident Artist in London in September 2011
Macedonian-Slovenian poet, Lidija Dimkovska, held a very successful evening of poetry reading and discussion at Poetry Library at Southbank Centre in September. Following this occasion the Poetry Library, which is one of the most comprehensive collection of poetry in Britain, expressed interest to add further publications of Slovenian poetry to its ever-expanding existing collection. On Friday, 23 September, Iztok Jarc, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in the United Kingdom, officially opened an exhibition of contemporary Slovenian design in London. The opening was attended by more then 250 guests and was open to public as part of London Design Festival and Tent London till Sunday, 25 September. It was accompanied by several events: in addition to a special preview for invited guests from featured companies it was accompanied by guided tours by Slovenian designers, workshops and a presentation of Slovenian wines.

Iztok Jarc, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, and Lyndon Trott, Guernsey’s Chief Minister, signed the Tax Information Exchange Agreement at a ceremony in the island’s capital St Peter Port, on 26 September.
The TIEA shows strong commitment on both sides to meeting international standards of transparency and exchange of information in tax matters set by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. During the visit to Guernsey Ambassador jarc held talks with the Lieutenant Governor Peter Walker, Deputy Bailiff Richard Collas and a number of Guernsey's ministers

The Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Slovenia in Scotland Ms. Ana Wersun welcomed the Folklore Group Leščeček from Prlekija in Edinburgh. The visiting group of 16 dancers and two musicians performed in festive costume at the Acoustic Music Centre together with the Beggar Girls from the Scottish Borders.
