Official three-day visit by President Borut Pahor in the United Kingdom

Between 27th of February and 1st of March president of the Republic of Slovenia H.E. Borut Pahor was on three-day official visit in the United Kingdom. He started his visit on Wednesday by meeting Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex to discuss the Duke of Edinburgh's award for young people as part of the MEPI programme.

Later in the day he meet Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt with whom he discussed the ways of strengthening bilateral relations also after the UK leaves the EU. Sharing the awareness of the importance of multilateralism, security and stability, and progress in the world in general, especially in Europe, UK will remain Slovenia's important business partner and an alley within NATO. Slovenia and the UK are therefore enhancing their cooperation in business, tourism, investment, science, education and culture

In the evening, President Pahor gave a lecture on the global positioning of Europe at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs titled The Geopolitical Positioning of Europe


He continued his official visit on Thursday by meeting HM The Queen Elizabeth II and
the cross party representatives of both houses of the UK Parliament

On Thursdays evening, he addresses Slovenians living in
the UK at a reception hosted by Ambassador Rupel for Slovenian diaspora.

President Borut Pahor concluded his three-day official visit to the United Kingdom on Friday by visiting the City of London to meet representatives of the London Stock Exchange, Glodman Sachs, Lloyd's and Lord Mayor of the City of London Peter Estlin.

During his visit, he also gave an exclusive interview for Sky News.
